Welcome to Pit Culture BBQ, where Texas tradition meets global inspiration! Founded in 2025 in Clear Lake City, Pit Culture BBQ was born from a simple passion: creating and sharing the incredible flavors that emerge when multicultural cuisines come together.

Our Story

When Chef Mike and his wife got married, neither one of them knew how to cook. Back then there was a new network with chef’s teaching people how to cook, they quickly fell in love with this network and watched every episode they could, downloading recipes and trying them out. For their first Thanksgiving they excitedly invited their families, the only thing that wasn’t ruined was the stuffing.

This didn’t stop them however from continuing to learn and explore.

With each move their family made around the southwest United States, they discovered new ingredients along with new (to them) food cultures. Their family only had one rule when they traveled, if they could eat at that restaurant back home they couldn’t eat there while traveling. This boded them well as they traveled around the mid-west for their sons sporting competitions. (They broke this rule once when Chef Mike and his wife were in Barcelona Spain, but it was an emergency so it was allowed)

When they moved to Texas they started sharing their love of food and food shows with their friends. Using the the flavors and dishes they saw on t.v. to come up with their own or even just sharing the recipes from around the world they’d been making at home.

With the urging of friends and family to start their own food truck/restaurant they came up with Pit Culture BBQ and Catering.

Where they get to blend the recipes of their families, combined with the global flavors they love.

What Makes Us Different

Chef Mike’s love of creating multicultural cuisine sparked the idea to blend the bold, smoky traditions of Texas-style BBQ with exciting global flavors from around the world. The result? A dining experience that honors BBQ traditions while celebrating the diverse culinary influences that make our community so special.

This is a true family operation – everything we serve is made from scratch by our family, for yours. We take pride in crafting each dish with care, using traditional smoking techniques while incorporating spices, marinades, and flavor profiles inspired by cuisines from across the globe. Whether it’s Korean-inspired short ribs, Mexican-spiced brisket, or Mediterranean-influenced chicken, every bite tells a story of cultural fusion and culinary creativity.

We’re also committed to inclusive dining – all of our dishes are prepared completely soy-free, ensuring that more families can gather around our table and enjoy what we create.
